Guru-caraṇa-kamala Bhaja Man
Śrī Śrīmad Bhaktivedānta Nārāyāṇa Gosvāmī Mahārāja
śrī guru-caraṇa-kamala bhaja man
guru-kṛpā binā nāhi koi sādhana-bal,
bhaja mana bhaja anukṣaṇ (1)
Worship the lotus feet of śrī guru, O mind. Without guru’s mercy, we have no strength in our sādhana. O mind, worship guru, worship him at every moment.
milatā nahī aisā, durlabha janama,
bhramatahū̃ caudaha-bhuvan
kisī ko milte haĩ, aho bhāgya se,
hari-bhaktõ ke daraśan (2)
This rare human birth is not often found as we scour the fourteen planes of existence. A chance few, by astounding good fortune, get to glimpse a devotee of Śrī Hari.
kṛṣṇa-kṛpā kī, ānanda-mūrti,
dīna-jana karuṇā-nidān
bhakti bhāva prema—tīna prakāśata,
śrī guru patita-pāvan (3)
He is the blissful embodiment of Kṛṣṇa’s mercy and the reservoir of compassion for the destitute. Manifesting bhakti, bhāva, and prema, śrī guru is the savior of the fallen.
śruti smṛti aur purānana māhĩn,
kīno spaṣṭa pramāṇ
tana-mana-jīvana, guru-pade arpaṇa,
śrī harīnāma raṭan (4)
All the Śrutis, Smṛtis and Purāṇas describe śrī guru’s glories; there is clear evidence of this. Offering my body, mind, and very life at the feet of Gurudeva, I incessantly sing śrī harināma.

TRANSLATION
1) My friend! That most magnanimous Sri Gauranga Mahaprabhu has appeared as the rising sun to dispel the darkness of this age Kali.
2) His brilliant golden complexion shames the bright luster of gold, and His beauty defeats the pride of Cupid. His curly black hair is decorated with a garland made of malati flowers, and bumble bees fly around them.
3) His beautiful moonlike face is decorated with tilaka, and His dressing enchants the whole world. His sweet smile delivers all embodied souls from the mire of material existence, by generating in them greed for love of Godhead. He displays unique ecstatic symptoms.
4) He Hankering to relish the unparalleled pastimes of the greatly munificent Sri Gaurasundara, who distributes mercy in the form of nama-prema to the supremely fortunate niskincana souls (those whose only possession is love of Krishna), the fallen and foolish Radha-mohana sings in a mood of great distress.

TRANSLATION
1) If Rupa Gosvami had not appeared in Kali-yuga, who would have opened the great store-house of vraja-prema and distributed its contents freely?
2) Just as a swan separates milk from water, who could have separated the rasas to taste them? Abandoning everything, he performed bhajana in Vrndavana and wrote his rasika literatures.
3) When the yellow forest flowers blossom and fruits ripen, he lived like a bee taking the nectar from lotuses – who could have understood the nectar he was collecting?
4) Who could have understood Krsna’s lilas in Mathura and Vrndavana? How could we have known the sweet vraja-lilas and the love between Radha-Madhava?
5) By the mercy of his lotus feet, all can sing about and attain such divine bliss. The surrendered Madhava dasa is always praying to embrace Rupa’s glories.

TRANSLATION
1) If Srimati Radhika is merciful to me, then all obstacles to my devotion will be removed. There will be nothing more for me to attain because I will have received the fruits offered by the paths of both vaidhi-marga and raga-marga. And if She will speak to me while smiling gently, I will see Her brilliant rows of teeth which are like lines of priceless jewels. Having seen them one time, the goal of gaining liberation from material existence will be rendered insignificant.
2) O Syamasundara! O You whose head is adorned with peacock feathers! Your face is always graced with a playful smile, Your flute-playing is enchanting, and You are expert in relishing rasa with Srimati Radhika. Because You are an ocean of mercy, I am appealing to You to please make me a kinkari (maidservant) at the feet of Your beloved.
3) You are the Lord of the life of the daughter of Vrsabhanu Maharaja and are like a bee who is always eager to taste the nectar of Her lips. O Rasika-sekhara, foremost of those who are rasika! I don’t desire anything other than to always reside at the feet of Srimati Radhika.
4) O Nanda-nandana! O all-pervading Prabhu! O You who enchant my mind, and indeed, the minds of all! Taking a piece of straw in my teeth, my humble entreaty to You is that She, who is the love of Your life, will remain my dear worshipable goddess birth after birth.

TRANSLATION
1) O my dear mind, with staunch faith perform hari-bhajana, without which you cannot be delivered. And with your mouth chant the names of Vrajendra-nandana, Gopé-prana-dhana (the life and wealth of the gopis) and Syamasundara, whose beauty en-chants the whole material manifestation.
2) There is no certainty when your life will finish, and you also never think about your deliverance from the material world. But very fearsome Yamadutas are standing near you. Bhagavan, whose power causes the three worlds to tremble in fear, You have forgotten. This is your misfortune. Thus, you are suffering in this material world from different kinds of miseries, and now you are about to die.
3) You have become intoxicated by your high birth and wealth, thinking yourself very high class. But you have forgotten that one day the Yamadutas will take you, tying up your hands and feet.
4) So whether one is a sannyasi or a very low-caste person, without performing hari-bhajana, one will continue to rotate in the samsara and go to the hell named Raurava.
5) Locana dasa says, “I have never done any hari-bhajana, having been absorbed in sense enjoyment. In this way my human form of life has been wasted. And this causes excruciating pain like a thorn piercing my heart.

TRANSLATION: Gopinath! Mama Nivedana Suno
1) O Gopinatha, Lord of the gopis, please hear my request. I am a wicked materialist, always addicted to worldly desires, and no good qualities do I possess.
2) O Gopinatha, You are my only hope, and therefore I have taken shelter at Your lotus feet. I am now Your eternal servant.
3) O Gopinatha, how will You purify me? I do not know what devotion is, and my materialistic mind is absorbed in fruitive work. I have fallen into this dark and perilous worldly existence.
4) O Gopinatha, everything here is Your illusory energy. I have no strength or transcendental knowledge, and this body of mine is not independent and free from the control of material nature.
5) O Gopinatha, this sinner, who is weeping and weeping, begs for an eternal place at Your divine feet. Please give him Your mercy.
6) O Gopinatha, You are able to do anything, and therefore You have the power to deliver all sinners. Who is there that is more of a sinner than myself?
7) O Gopinatha, You are the ocean of mercy. Having come into this phenomenal world, You expand Your divine pastimes for the sake of the fallen souls.
8) O Gopinatha, I am so sinful that although all the demons attained Your lotus feet, Bhaktivinoda has remained in worldly existence.
